"The selectors have decided not to send any replacements for injured batsman at the moment as they had selected a 16-member squad for the five-match ODI series," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah
Sehwag injured his ankle during practice session on the first match eve and failed make it for the first ODI of the series on Monday. In Sehwag"s absence, debutant Virat Kohli opened the innings with Gautam Gambhir, but failed to put a solid opening partnership stand.
Sehwag"s absence will still surely affect India, who lost the opening ODI by eight wickets. Sehwag did really well during the Test series, which the tourists lost 1-2.
With the ICC"s mega event, Champions Trophy, to be held from September 12 in Pakistan, it was a wise move to pullout Sehwag, so that he gets enough rest to recover on time.
