India sans Gambhir opt to field in second ODI

Bangalore: India skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field in the second ODI against Lanka at the Rangiri International Stadium in Dambulla on Wednesday.

India suffered more injury woes with Gambhir - down with stiff neck - adding to injury list which includes Sehwag and Tendulkar.

Visitors trailing 1-0 in the five match ODI series, have drafted in uncapped S Badrinath. Seamer Praveen Kumar comes in for left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. For Lankans, Dilhara Fernando replaces injured Vaas.

Squad:

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Subramaniam Badrinath, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel.

Lanka: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Chamara Kapugedera, Chamara Silva, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dilhara Fernando, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thilan Thushara, Ajantha Mendis and Muralitharan.

Match Officials: Billy Bowden (NZ) and MG Silva (SL). Third Umpire: Wijewardene (SL). Referee: Chris Broad (Eng).
