India elect to bat in third ODI against Lanka

Colombo: India skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat in the third ODI against Lanka to be played at Premadasa Stadium here on Sunday.

India decided to field seven batsmen on a flat and hard typical sub-continent batting wicket. Gambhir returns to the fold at the expense of Pathan. Gambhir will open the innings with his fellow Delhi batsman Virat Kohli. For Lanka, seasoned Vaas, who missed previous tie owing to injury, comes in for Dilhara Fernando.

The five match ODI series is tied at 1-1 with Lanka registering a facile eight-wicket win in the first one-dayer at Dambulla and India levelled the series by clinching the second tie with a laborious three-wkt win in the same venue.

India: Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt&wk), Rohit Sharma S Badrinath, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel.

Sri Lanka: Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thilan Thushara, Ajantha Mendis and Muralitharan.

Match Officials: Billy Doctrove (WI) and Wijewardene (SL). Third umpire: M G Silva (SL). Match referee: Chris Broad (Eng).
