Ganguly and Yuvraj in IPL colours. The stylish left-handers, who had a poor run with bat for India last summer, left out of RoI squad New Delhi: The national selectors on Monday wielded axe on non-performing southpaws Ganguly and Yuvraj, dropping them from the Rest of India (RoI) squad for the Irani Trophy.

Both the left-handers Ganguly and Yuvraj had a pretty disappointing run with the bat during India's tour to Australia early this year and in recently concluded Test series against Lanka.

However Ganguly's fellow veterans Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman were included in the 14-member squad.

Mohd Kaif, who led UP to Ranji finals and wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel made the cut, thanks to their consistancy in domestic circuit.

Bengal right-arm seamer Ashok Dinda is the lone surprise inclusion.

Kumble-led RoI will take on the Ranji Champions Delhi in the five-day Irani Cup tie scheduled to be held in Baroda on Sept 24.

Meanwhile India new ball bowler Ishant Sharma, who flew home from Lanka half-way thro' the series owing to hip injury, has been cleared to play in the upcoming home series against Australia.

RoI Squad: Anil Kumble (capt, Katk), Rahul Dravid (Katk), Sachin Tendulkar (Mum), V V S Laxman (Hyd), Wasim Jaffar (Mum), M S Dhoni (wk, Jhar), Mohammed Kaif (UP), Harbhajan Singh (Pun), Pragyan Ojha (Hyd), Zaheer Khan (Maha), Munaf Patel (Maha), R P Singh (UP), Parthiv Patel (wk, Guj) and Ashok Dinda (Ben).
