Mumbai: Australian cricketers will miss the services of their wives for next two months as Cricket Australia (CA) has ruled out wives and girl friends accompanying the players for the tour of India. But this not due to any security fears.

Cricketnext quoted CA media manager Phillip Pope as saying, "Look, we have a certain Player Visitor Period for them under which the wives and girlfriends travel with the team.

"During Christmas period, the players keep their family members for Boxing Day and Sydney (New Year) Tests. But otherwise the players are allowed to have them only once on overseas tours," Pope explained.

But Indian players have no such restriction and a few players like Sehwag take their wives on almost tours abroad.

"Last year, the players took them to the West Indies during World Cup (2007) and this season (2008-2009), the players will be allowed to have their wives and girl-friends during part of their long tour of South Africa. And therefore, no schedule of them accompanying during the India tour is planned this time," he further added.

Australia is scheduled to play three Test matches, two Twenty20 Internationals and five ODIs on a 65-day long tour early next year in South Africa.
