Tendulkar out of Irani Trophy with an elbow injury

SachinMumbai: Master blaster Sachin Tendukar has opted out of the Irani Trophy to be played from September 24 in Baroda. Tendulkar informed BCCI on friday that he is still suffering from elbow injury and is not in a position to play in Irani trophy.

Master batsman suffered the same injury during the Third Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo because of which he was forced outof the ODI seires. Tendulkar Hehas since been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

The BCCI have not named a replacement for the Rest of India side, but it is unlikely that Sourav Ganguly will come in for Tendulkar. Tendulkar's absence will open vistas to younger players like Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
