Mohali: Sachin Tendulkar, who went past Lara's record for the most runs in Test cricket, carried on to score his fiftieth half century in Test match cricket. He also became the  first player to cross the 12,000-run mark in test cricket.

There was Tendulkar's full array of strokes on display today, ranging from the cover drive, to the crisp flicks to his trademark on-drives.

The half century came off 80 balls, and included five hits to the fence.

Sachin Tendulkar, who went past two important milestones in his career, was dismissed 14 minutes prior to the end of play on the first day, when he edged one from debutant Peter Siddle to Matthew Hayden at first slip, who picked up the ball inches from the ground.

In Banglore it was another debutant Cameron White who picked up the wicket of Tendulkar
