Mumbai Indians hires Rhodes as fielding coach

Mumbai: South Africa's former star  Jonty Rhodes is tipped to join the Mumbai franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the capacity of fielding coach.

Rhodes, considered to be the man who revolutionised fielding in international cricket, has been offered the position for the second season of the IPL, which begins in March 2009.

Rhodes, one of the best fielders the world has seen, has already served as fielding coach with the South African cricket team, and has even worked with the Pakistan cricket team briefly.

He will join the Mumbai Indians in the capacity of fielding coach, a position currently held by former India wicketkeeper Sameer Dighe.

The Indian Express quoted a Mumbai Indians official as saying, "One can't get better than Rhodes as a fielding coach.
