Dhaka: Rain threatened another washout in the second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand here Sunday after the opening day was washed out due to bad weather.

Persistent showers on Sunday morning ruined plans of an early start and further delayed calling of the toss and with more rain forecast later in the day, chances of play looked bleak.

Officials said the covers were still on and a final decision on the day's play will only be made after further analysis of the conditions.

"Umpires will make an inspection at 11:00am (5:00GMT) before deciding whether any play is possible in the day or not," official said.

New Zealand lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test by three wickets at Chittagong.
