India bat first against Australia in third Test

India captain Anil Kumble won the toss and elected to bat in the third Test against Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium here on Wednesday.

Kumble, who missed India's victory at Mohali with a shoulder injury, replaced injured off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. Singh picked up a toe injury towards the end of the Test.

Australia, trailing 1-0 in the four-match series after losing the Mohali Test by 320 runs, made one change, bringing back fit-again paceman Stuart Clark in place of Peter Siddle.

The fourth and final Test will be played in Nagpur from Nov 6-10. The opener in Bangalore ended in a draw.

Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Cameron White, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Stuart Clark. Twelfth man: Jason Krejza.

India: Anil Kumble (capt), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Venkatsai Laxman, Mahendra Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra. Twelfth man: Subramaniam Badrinath.

Umpires: Billy Bowden (NZL) and Aleem Dar (PAK)

Third umpire: Suresh Shastri (IND)

Match referee: Chris Broad (ENG)
