Gilchrist, in his yet-to-be released autobiography 'True Colours of my life', questioned Harbhajan and Ganguly's decision to skip the Nagpur Test of 2004, which Australia won and went on to win their first Test series in India in 35 years. Gilchrist wrote in his autobiography Harbhajan was out of the Test "with a 'flu', which he seemed to have contracted when he saw the grassy wicket". "...I still don't know to this day what was wrong with Ganguly and Harbhajan."

Reacting to Gilchrist's comments in the book, Harbhajan told the Telegraph, "It's time somebody asked him to shut up. I suppose Gilchrist needs to get his head examined."
