Chennai: Graeme Swann became the second bowler in Test cricket history to take 2 wickets of his first over in Test cricket. The debutant off-spinner removed dangerous opener Gautam Gambhir and former captain Rahul Dravid as India struggled to 37 for three at tea on the second day. Swan 241st cricketer to represt England in Test cricket.

The other bowler to do so was also an Englishman Richard Johnson (who has played three Test matches) dismissed Zimbabwe's Mark Vermeulen and Stuart Carlisle at Cester-le-Street in 2003. Vermulen and Carlisle were dismissed of the third and 4th ball respectively.

Swann made his cricketing debut with home team Northamptonshire in 1997. Swann played a single One-day International against South Africa. Though his 2005 season couldn't top his success in 2004, where he joined the National Academy, he managed to take 30 wickets during Nottinghamshire's County Championship winning season of 2005. In 2007 Swann was chosen to accompany England on their tour of Sri Lanka as their second spin bowler, along with Monty Panesar.
