Chennai: England opener Andrew Strauss claimed his place in cricket's history books today after scoring his second century of the match to put England in control of the opening Test against India.
Strauss, became the first-ever Englishman to score back-to-back centuries in a single Test match on Indian soil. Kevin Barrington, Everton Weeks, Gary Kirsten and Duleep Mendis are the four others to have accomplished this phenomenal feat. Strauss, who hit a superb 123 in the first innings, brought up the landmark with a single to the on-side off left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan in the 20th over of the day at the Chepauk Stadium
England have never lost a Test in which Andrew Strauss has scored a century. With two full days of play left, the visitors are sure on track to keep that record going.
