Christchurch: New Zealand's stand-in captain Brendon McCullum is happy that they were able to put up a good fight on Sunday. He also revealed that his side was lucky enough to get rid off Sehwag early in Indian innings.
. "We could have been chasing 500 if he hadn"t got out. To have got him out was fantastic, but I guess Tendulkar picked the slack. The other guys didn"t miss a beat and totally put us under pressure," McCullum said after Sunday"s game. Excerpts:
On the defeat: We didn"t bowl well early on, but with the quality of players they have, it was tough to contain them. We gave ourselves an opportunity with the bat at the start. But it was frustrating to lose so many wickets in quick succession.
On Sachin"s innings: Pretty good one. I can hardly remember a shot that didn"t come out of the middle. There were times as well that he played with half blade and hit in areas that he precisely wanted to. I don"t think I have seen too many better innings.
