New Delhi: A Pakistani government official has finally conceded lapses in security arrangements for the Sri Lanka cricket team that came under attack in Lahore on March 3.
Sports Minister Pir Aftab Shah Jilani said: "The Federal Government is very alive to whatever mistakes have occurred, there were lapses, I assure you it will not happen again."
"We had provinces in charge of security which was a mistake," he further said.
Pakistan is desperate to retain rights for hosting the 2011 World Cup. In recent months few teams have agreed to play in the country due to security concerns.
The attack on the Sri Lankan team has further dampened Pakistan's prospect of hosting the mega event.
However, Jilani has assured that the Federal Government will be in charge of all future international sports events.
