New Delhi: The victorious Indian cricket team landed back in India after their historic series win in New Zealand. India won a test series in New Zealand after a gap of 41 years. India also registered their maiden ODI series win in New Zealand. While Sachin Tendulkar and five other cricketers arrived in India, Dhoni and others touched down the Delhi Airport in the wee hours today.
India had won the three-match test series 1-0 and the five-match ODI series 3-1. Virender Sehwag was declared "Man of the Series" in ODIs, while Gautam Gambhir was the "Man of the Series" in tests.
Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Dhawal Kulkarni arrived at Mumbai Airport at the stroke of midnight. They were welcomed by cricket fans and officials.
Later, Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and other arrived at the Delhi Airport, to a rousing welcome by the cricket fans. The cricketers have little time to take rest and will depart for South Africa shortly to play in the IPL 2009.
The cricketers did not speak to the waiting reporters as they were whisked away by the security men.
