Cape Town: Brilliant bowling performance and fine fielding helped Kings XI Punjab to beat defending champions Rajasthan Royals by 27 runs in the second edition of the Indian Premier League Cape Town.
Chasing a paltry target of 140, Rajasthan Royals could only manage 112-7 in their stipulated 20 overs.
Yusuf Abdulla was the pick of the Kings XI bowlers with 3-21, while Indian allrounder Irfan Pathan and spinner Piyush Chawla grabbed two wickets apiece. Rajasthan Royals were off to a shaky start after they lost Swapnil Asnodkar (3) in the second over. Royals were on the backfoot as they lost Graeme Smith who for just two runs.

Only men who impressed with bat were Ravindra Jadeja, who made 37 off 44 balls and Captain Shane Warne who scored an unbeaten 41.
Earlier Sangakkara's fifty helped Punjab Kings XI to post a respectable total of 139 for 7 in twenty overs. Irfan Pathan who gave a good support to Sangakkara scored 39 runs.
Punjab had slumped to 4-48 before Sangakkara and Pathan came to the rescue.
Kumar Sangakkara was adjudged the man of the match.
