Bangalore wins a thriller

Durban: Bangalore Royal Challengers beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 5 wickets in a closely contested battle at Kingsmead on Wednesday.

With 10 required of the last over, March Boucher ensured Royal Challengers victory with two thrilling boundaries. Boucher hit 25 runs which consisted of two fours and a six. Mark Boucher was declared was the man of the match.

Royal Challengers openers Goswami and Kallis gave a solid start to Royal Challengers. Both of them had a partnership of 69 runs which was the highest one for the Bangalore Royal Challengers in this tournament. Goswami hit 43 runs of 46 balls which consisted of 6 fours. Kallis scored 23 runs of 26 runs that included two boundaries.

Strategic break yet again proved to be a curse to the batting team as Bangalore lost two wickets in quick interval after the break . Brad Hodge took 3 wickets to bring back Kolkata back into the game. But the best part for Royal Challengers Bangalore was that they had Boucher in the middle and hence they sealed the win comfortably in the end.

Earlier, Bangalore spinners restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 139/6 in 20 overs.

MN van Wyk was the top scored in the Kolkata innings with 43 runs. Chris Gayle scored 37 in forty balls.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost the first wicket in the very first ball of the match when Kevin Pietersen dismissed Knight Riders captain Brendon McCullum.

Anil Kumble was the pick of the Bangalore bowlers with two wickets.
