Pathan powers Royals to victory

Centurion: Yusuf Pathan's blistering knock 61 (30) helped Rajasthan Royals to beat Delhi Daredevils by five wickets in Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Tuesday.

Chasing 144 to win, Rajasthan were home with nine balls to spare. Yusuf made 62 from 30 deliveries, while South Africa skipper Graeme Smith made an unbeaten 44 from 46 as the Royals finished at a canter.

At one stage royals were struggling at 64 for 5 after Shane Warne"s dismissal when Yusuf walked in to join Smith.

Earlier in the day, Delhi began in disastrous fashion as Dimitri Mascarenhas removed Delhi famed opening pair in his second over. Dilshan and Karthik followed suit cheaply before De Villiers strung together a crucial partnership with Vettori.

AB de Villiers' half-century was the highlight off Daredevils batting card, his knock helping Virender Sehwag's side finish with an unflattering 143 for seven.

Victory is a huge relief for the royals as it propels them up to the fourth position below Mumbai Indians. Their net run rate still remains something that can be improved upon but with wins coming that should follow as well.

Daredevils still stay second in the top of the points table and they would look to put this quickly behind them as the take on Deccan Chargers on Thursday.
