Punjab beats Mumbai by 3 runs in IPL

Durban: Kings XI pulled off an unbelievable last over victory against Mumbai Indias in the Indian Premier League here on Wednesday.

Replying to the Punjab's modest score of 119, Mumbai Indians could only score 116/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

As Punjab pace Yusuf Abdulla set to bowl the last over, Mumbai Indians needed 12 runs, but they could manage only eight runs, conceding a three run defeat to Kings XI Punjab. Kings XI Punjab now have three wins and Mumbai Indians two from five matches.

The Mumbai Indians were off to a shaky start losing Sanath Jayasuriya (0), Sachin Tendulkar (1) and Shikhar Dhawan (3) with just 12 on the board. At the end of 10 overs Mumbai were struggling for 45/4. It was Duminy's innings that raised the hopes in Mumbai camp, but his 63-ball 59 proved not enough in the end.

Earlier Lankan captain Kumara Sangakkara's fighting 45 (44 deliveries) helped Punjab to post 119 for eight in twenty overs.

Lasith Malinga was the most successive bowler finishing with 2-12 off four overs. Kumara Sangakkara was declared man of the match.
