London: Olympic gold medallist and one of America's hottest basketball player Deron Williams has wished India luck in their bid to retain the ICC World Twenty20 title.
The NBA star met India's ICC World Twenty20 members Suresh Raina and Pragyan Ojha after a practice session at Lords on the eve of their warm-up match against New Zealand.
The 24-year-old Utah Jazz player was impressed with Lords and wished India luck ahead of the tournament which starts Friday.
"I am excited to be at the home of cricket here at Lords and I wish the reigning world champions India and the other teams the very best," Williams said in an ICC statement.
"London is a great city and I look forward to returning in October with the Utah Jazz when we play the Chicago Bulls as part of NBA Europe Live presented by EA Sports," added the 1.91-metre tall Williams, who was part of the US basketball team that won gold at the Beijing Olympics.
Ojha was delighted after meeting Williams.
"It was a pleasure to meet up with Deron, who is an immensely successful basketball player and a gold medallist at the Olympics. He came across as a nice bloke who was down to earth, which was brilliant," said the 22-year-old.
Ojha also said he is looking forward to give of his best.
"Being a part of the Indian team for the ICC World T20 in England is a dream come true. I am looking forward to make the most of the opportunities that come my way," he said.
