New Delhi: Wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik will replace Virender Sehwag who was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury. Dinesh Kathik played along with Virender Sehwag in Delhi Daredevils team in the recently concluded T20 world cup.
A BCCI statement informed that Dinesh Karthik will fly to England as soon as possible to replace Sehwag in the 14-member Indian squad. Karthik, who narrowly missed out selection for the tournament, will add lot of value to the side as he can step in if the lone wicketkeeper M S Dhoni picks up any injury during the tourney.

Sehwag had suffered the injury during the Indian Premier League and missed the opening match against Bangladesh, which means he will return to India without playing a single match in the tournament.
Karthik was a member of Indian team that won the T20 WC in 2007, But inconsistent form forced selectors to ignore him for the national team. But Karthik came to the international reckoning again on the back his excellent performances in the domestic cricket as well as in the IPL-II.
Karthik played 6 T20 international matches for India but failed to impress anyone with his performance. Though he started off well hitting a match-winning unbeaten 31 to power India to a victory in their first T20 internal played against South Africa. But after that he almost failed in all the five matches. In his six matches his total run is 67 only.
