Taunton: Indian began their Women's World Twenty20 campaign on a dismal note as England thrashed them by 10 wickets at Taunton.
Batting first India could only manage just 112 for eight with left-arm spinner Holly Colvin the pick of the English bowlers as she returned figures of three for 20 from her four overs.
Once again Mithali Raj top scored for India with 29 from 37 balls before she was bowled by Charlotte Edwards.
Edwards then teamed up with opening partner Sarah Taylor as both posted unbeaten half-centuries to reel in India's total with 26 balls to spare.
Edwards' unbeaten 61 came from 53 balls and included six fours and two sixes, while Taylor was 50 not out from 41 balls.
