'It should 've been me not Dilshan'

Karachi: Shahid Afridi, the man who drove Pakistan to emerging the World Champions of the T20 Cup with his spectacular performance in the last two games, seems to have taken offense for not being named the 'Man of the Tournament'.

Afridi in now complaining about the ICC 'ignoring' him inspite of his 176 runs and 11 wickets as opposed to Dilshan who just has 317 runs to his credit.

Dilshan and Afridi stats in the Twenty20 World Cup 2009:

                 Matches  Runs-scored   Wickets-taken  Highest Score
Dilshan          7                  317                    -                     96*

Afridi             7                  176                  11                     54*

The decision taken by the board which consists of a group of experts is ideally seen as the final one. But the player has every right to oppose. Whether it is heard or taken seriously is a different matter on its own. But in our opinion Dilshan was not a very bad choice. Afridi should accept it and move on.
