Sourav gets brother's support in CAB bid

Kolkata: Ganguly's elder brother Snehashish Ganguly is helping his younger brother Sourav Ganguly in his second innings as a cricket administrator.

It was Snehashish who shaped Sourav's career, and now he has initiated talks with Kolkata outfit Bhukailash Sporting Club - which would be the platform for Sourav's entry into the working committee of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) this August.

Dada becomes Fellow

Snehasish is now working as an assistant secretary of the CAB under Prasun Mukherjee in 2007-08, is yet to make the working committee as his club Barisha Sporting's term in the panel has expired.

However, Snehasish maintained that he was not making any sacrifice for his brother.

"Bengal cricket is in a soup now, we played in Plate last season and did not do well after getting into Elite. Also everybody knows our CAB president (Jagmohan Dalmiya) is not in the Board's good books," Snehasish told a news agency. .

"It's high time that Sourav steps into cricket administration in the interest of Bengal cricket. (His affiliation with Bhukailash Sporting Club) is a first step towards this and the road is long ahead. We will do everything for Bengal cricket."

Referring to Dalmiya's reign at the helm of CAB, he said, "Nobody can stay at the top for so long. Change is always for good and Sourav is the right choice to restructure Bengal cricket."

Dada is a dude

Asked whether he would seek an entry into the working committee, he said, "I am with Barisha Sporting and so I will have to wait for the turn. We (Sourav and I) are together."

But with Bhukailash SC's term in the working committee getting over this year, the former will have to look for another club to represent at the CAB.

The annual general meeting of CAB will be held on July 31.
