New Delhi: Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar has topped the list of income tax payers in Indian cricket. He has paid Rs 8 crore as advance tax for the current financial year ( 2008-2009).
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni comes distant second, while dashing opener Virender Sehwag grabbed the third position.
Indian captain Dhoni has moved up from third spot in 2006-07 to second last year with a Rs 4.7 crore tax bill. Former captain Rahul Dravid who came close to Sachin in the year 2006-2007 was pushed to the fifth position in the latest charts.
The top five Indian cricketers collectively paid Rs 20 crores as taxes whereas the same set had paid Rs 17 crores in 2007-08 when the economic system was flourishing.
Tendulkar who performs consistency in batting average has also maintained a consistency here as he pays Rs 8 crore as tax money for the past three years.
