Rain delays Edgbaston Test

Birmingham: The start of the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston has been delayed due to heavy rain over the past 24 hours.

England are leading the five-match series 1-0 after winning the second Test at Lord's by 115 runs. The first Test at Cardiff was a draw.

Umpires would inspect the field at the time of the usual start, 1530 hrs IST (11am local time).

Australia has surprisingly dropped Phillip Hughes from their starting XI for the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.

Hughes makes way for Shane Watson after the former failed to amass any big total and struggled against short-pitched bowling.

England, on the other hand, will go with Ian Bell at No. 4 in place of the injured Kevin Pietersen.
