Johannesburg: South Africa's leading fast bowler Dale Steyn has tested positive for a banned substance that he took during the second season of Indian Premier League.
Steyn, who played for Bangalore Royal challengers is suspected to have taken some painkillers during the tournament. A urine sample taken from him during the IPL shows excessive amount of morphine.
The pacer apparently took too much Myprodols and codeine, which is turned in to morphine by the body.

The South African cricket board has submitted a report to the IPL authorities in this regard.
"We are aware of the result and submitted a report immediately to the IPL on why this has happened, we are now awaiting a reply from the IPL authorities" Majola said.
Steyn could only play in three of the Bangalore Royal Challenger's matches in the tournamen.
