New Delhi: Delhi's 'Ranji dreams' received a big blow on Monday when their captain Virender Sehwag decided to quit the team in protest against the selection procedures followed by the DDCA.
Sehwag, who is in Bangalore undergoing rehabilitation for his injured shoulder is expected to meet Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Arun Jaitley on August 27 or 28 to discuss the issue.
According to the sources, Viru has already applied for a No-Objection certificate to move to another state team. The dashing opener may switch over to Haryana in the next Renji Trophy.
But sources in the DDCA said that Sehwag"s threat to quit was just a “ tactic" to bring in a couple of his players in the Ranji squad.
Sehwag started playing for Delhi team at a young age and he is currently the captain of city IPL team the Delhi Daredevils.
