Colombo: Team India will take on hosts Sri Lanka in the finals of Compaq Cup at R Premada stadium in Colombo on Monday.
Dhoni's men have the opportunity to clinch their first final in a multi-nation event in almost 11 years in the island nation.
India had last won the final of a major one-day event on Lankan soil in 1998 and then shared the rain-marred ICC Champions Trophy with the hosts in 2002.
India lost to Sri Lanka by 139 runs last night in their second match of the tournament, there by ending their brief stay at the number one position in the ICC ODI rankings. It was India's biggest defeat on Sri Lankan soil.
But Dhoni said it was just an off-day for the team in the office and feels whoever comes out lucky with the toss of coin at the R Premadasa wicket on Monday will have an edge in the title clash.
"In venues like this, toss plays a crucial role. If you win the toss then 60 per cent of the game is in your favour," Dhoni said.
Since 1988, Sri Lanka and India have faced each other in 12 tournament finals. The Lankans have won 6 times while Indians have emerged victorious on 5 occasions. Only one game between these two sides yielded no result (The 2002 Champions Trophy finals was washed out twice and India & Sri Lanka were declared the joint winners).
