India regains 2nd spot in ICC rankings

Dubai: Australia dropped to third spot in the ICC one-day rankings as they lost to England by four wickets on Sunday in the final match of the Nat West Series.

Though Australia won the series by a 6-1 margin, a defeat in the final match was enough to end their brief return to the top of the standings. Australia lasted at the top of the ICC points table for just 3 days.

Champions Trophy-Fixture

South Africa and India climbed one place each to first and second respectively ahead of the two-week tournament, which gets under way at Centurion on Tuesday.

There could be more chopping and changing over the next couple of weeks as the top eight-ranked sides battle for the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.

Meanwhile, England moved back ahead of New Zealand into sixth place in the team rankings. A reasonable performance in the ICC Champions Trophy could see Andrew Strauss's side make it up as high as fourth place as it is now just four ratings points behind Pakistan.

ICC ODI rankings:

1. South Africa 127
2. India 126
3. Australia 125
4. Pakistan 109
5. Sri Lanka 108
6. England 105
7. New Zealand 105
8. West Indies 78
9. Bangladesh 55
10. Zimbabwe 26
11. Ireland 25
12. Kenya 0
