Gambhir to replace Yuvi as vice captain

Johannesburg: Gautam Gambhir has been named the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in place of Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh is ruled out the Champions trophy as he suffered figure injury during the net practice.

The injury will force him out of the team for six weeks, which puts him in doubt for the home ODI series against Australia.

Yuvraj ruled out of Champions Trophy

Virat Kohli will replace him in the Champions Trophy squad.

Yuvraj's absence would be a big blow for India's chances in the Champions Trophy.

India are already an injury-hit side going into the tournament, missing the services of star opener Virender Sehwag and pacer Zaheer Khan

Opener Gautam Gambhir was also nursing a groin strain ahead of the tournament. Gambhir did not play in the team's only practice match against New Zealand.
