Kambli to contest Maharashtra elections

New Delhi: On the eve of Mahrashtra election all the parties are in race for acquiring star candidates to contest election for them. Third front has roped in Vinod Kambli.

Vinod Kambli, former Indian cricketer, will contest from Vikhroli, a Mumbai suburb in the upcoming elections. Kambli belongs to Lok Bharti Party, which is part of the 16-party Third Front.

The former left-handed batsman claimed to have received invitations to join big national parties but decided to spurn the offers and join the Lok Bharati. "I had invitations from other parties for plum posts, but I chose Lok Bharati as I have seen them work closely.

Vinod Kambli last played for India in the year 2000. The southpaw Vinod had achieved a remarkable feet by scoring back to back double centuries at the test level.

Kambli, who played in 17 Tests had scored 1084 runs in the Tests. In the 104 ODIs Kambli played he scored 2477 runs.

Kambli recently stirred up a controversy when he accused his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar for not supporting him during bad days of his career.
