India beat West Indies by 7 wickets

Johannesburg: Dismissed from the Champions Trophy on the back of Australia's thrilling win over Pakistan earlier in the day, India made sure that they departed the tournament with a win over the West Indies on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest target of 130, India achieved the target in 32.1 overs thanks to a second-wicket stand of 92 from Dinesh Karthik (34) and Virat Kohli who finished unbeaten on 79. India suffered an early scare as they slipped to 12 for two before Karthik and Kohli steadied the innings.

Scorecard-India vs West Indies

It was indeed a pretty shabby batting display from Indian side which threw fuel to the fame that has the 50-over game under fire.

Sachin Tendulkar was ruled out of the match due to food poisoning.

India finished their Champions Trophy campaign with a single victory while West Indies lost all three of their matches in the competition. Australia emerged as the toppers in the group, Pakistan placed second, Indians third and the West Indies fourth.

Earlier India dismissed the weakened Windies side for 129 in 36 overs.

Kumar claimed 3-22 in nine overs and Nehra took 3-31 from eight.

In a surprising move Indian captain and wicketkeeper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave up his gloves to bowl the 17th over of the innings. He also picked up a wicket in the very first over of his bowling career by dismissing Travis Dowlin.

Virat Kohli was adjudged the man of the match.
