New Zealand beat Pakistan by five wicket

Johannesburg: New Zealand beat Pakistan by five wickets and booked their place in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy alongside Australia.

After restricting Pakistan to 233 for nine at the Wanderers, Elliott's 75 not out led New Zealand to 234 for five with 13 balls to spare.

New Zealand will meet Australia in the final on Monday at Centurion.

Elliott stiched a 104-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Daniel Vettori before the captain was stumped by Kamran Akmal off spinner Saeed Ajmal. Elliott struck five fours and one six in his 103-ball knock.

The turning point of the match was Pakistan captain dropping Elliott on 42. Things could have been different if Pak captain had not missed that catch.

Ross Taylor and opener Aaron Redmond were the only other batsmen to score more than 20, with Taylor hitting a four and two sixes in his 38 and Redmond 31, with five fours.

Ajmal was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers with figures of 2-39.

Earlier, New Zealand seamer Ian Butler took four wickets to help restrict Pakistan to 233-9.

The notable run scorers in Pakistan side were Umran Akmal (55) and Yousif (45).

Umar Akmal and Yousuf shared a 80-run partnership for the fifth wicket before Yousuf was bowled by Kyle Mills . Pakistan then suffered a batting collapse and lost four our more wickets fell for 32 runs to leave Pakistan on 198-9,. However, a 35 run partnership between Aamer and Ajmal helped Pakistan to post a respectable 233.
