Bangalore: Madhur Bhandarkar has set his sights on his next directing project, "The Commissioner", a film focusing on the life of IPL chairman Lait Modi.
Modi is the most powerful Indian cricket administration and his controversial life will make for a crackling screenplay.
The movie will be produced by Percept Picture Company.
Shailendra Singh, JT MD Percept Picture Company said, “It"s true that we are making Commissioner. We researched his life and the entire journey of IPL and we have written a fictional script. We had a brief chat with Shridhar Raghvan in South Africa to write the script."
Madhur also met Lalit Modi at Vijay Mallya"s party in Bangalore to discuss about the project.
IPL chairman confirmed the reports that he has had talks with filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar to document his life.
Modi told reporters that it was a compliment that so many filmmakers were interested in making a movie on his life.
The movie is planned to release at the time the 2011 World Cup will be happening in India.
