India Red wins Challenger Trophy

Nagpur: Dhoni is certainly going through a bad time, after the early exit from Champions Trophy, Indian captain faced another humiliation when his team India Blue was thrashed by Badrinath lead India Read in the Challenger Trophy finals.

A destructive bowling spell from Munaf Patel and Sudeep Tyagi skittled out India Blue for just 84, before India Red batsmen then eased to the target in the 21st to lift the Challenger Trophy in Nagpur.

Munaf (4/21) and Tyagi (3/20) shared seven scalps between them as they bowled out India Blue for paltry 84 in 27.1 overs.

Reds achieved the target just three wickets down in 20.3 overs. Opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 38 and Harshad Khadwale made an unbeaten 28.

Harbhajan Singh was the most successful bowler for Blues with three for 23.

Put into bat, Dhoni's team could not recover from Tyagi's three-wicket burst which turned the match in favour of India Red.

Only three Indian Blue batsmen managed double digit figures.
