The 81-run stand between Jeevantha Kulatunga (42 off 39 balls) and Michael Vandort (42 off 44) for the second wicket was the lone bright spot in the Wayamba innings as the islanders succumbed to a spectacular batting collapse to fold before the 120-mark.
Shane Harwood (3/14) ripped apart the Wayamba middle order but it was Clint McKay (2/24) whose double strikes unhinged the Sri Lankans. Andrew McDonald also claimed a couple of wickets, including the important scalp of Mahela Jayawardene.
Wayamba: 118/9 ( Michael Vandort 42, Jeevanths Kulatunga 41, Chanaka Welegedara 2 for 18); Victoria: 103/4 (Brad Hodge no 44 , Andrew McDonald no 27, Shane Harwood 3 for 14).
