T&T beat Diamond Eagles by 24 runs

Hyderabad: Adian Barath played a stunning innings (63) to guide Trinindad & Tobago to a  24 run victory against Diamond Eagles and ensure a place in semifinals of the Champions League.

Trinindad & Tobago became the first team in the tournament to score 200-run mark in the competition as they rattled up 213 for the loss of four wickets.

Adrian Barath was the most impressive of Caribbean batsmen, hammering four sixes and four fours on his way to 63 from 41 balls.

The Eagles needed 214 runs in just 14.2 overs to qualify for the semifinals got a flying start but faltered once they lost their top order batsmen.

Van Wyk smashed 25 off 14 balls with four boundaries and a six while Rossouw hit 44 of just 19 balls with five boundaries and three sixes.

T & T off spinner Sherwin Ganga put the breaks on Eagles removing Van Wyk and one down batsman Mc Laren to keep his side's hopes alive, while Simmons removed Rossouw with the fine catch by Pollard at deep mid wicket.

Pollard took the sweet revenge in removing Eagles skipper Dippenaar who struck him a sixer in the previous delivery. Dippenaar made 33 off just 19 balls with four boundaries and a sixer.

Dippenaar tried to steer a delivery of Pollard outside the offstump deflected, the man behind the stumps Ramdin did no mistake. Dillon du Preez after making 35 off 40 balls with one four and two sixes was caught by Simmons off Pollard at longon.

With Eagles losing their fifth wicket for 156 in 16.4 overs, the match was virtually over tilting in favour of Trinidad and Tobago. Sherwin Ganga and Kieran Pollard were the pick of the Trinidad bowlers taking two wickets a piece.

Scores: Trinidad & Tobago 213 for 4 (Barath 63, Simmons 40) beat Eagles 189 for 5 (Rossouw 44) by 24 runs.
