A spectacular century from Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped India defeat Australia by 99 runs in the second one-day international in Nagpur to level the seven-match series 1-1.

Indians were precariously placed at 97 for three at the time when Dhoni came to the crease. Indian captain cracked 124 off 107 deliveries and helped Indian side to score 354 for seven, their highest ever total against Australia in ODIs.
Dhoni Shared century stands with Gautam Gambhir (76) and Suresh Raina (62) for the fourth and fifth wickets respectively as the visiting attack struggled for penetration. Dhoni's innings was studded with nine fours and three big sixes.

Dhoni's brigade then bowled Australia out for 255 in 48.3 overs. Australia slumped to 45-3 in the 11th over of their floodlit run chase and, despite a half-century from Michael Hussey, never got back in contention. Praveen Kumar took two early wickets including skipper Ricky Ponting for 12. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers three for 35 from 6.3 overs.
'It is a special century because it has come after such a long time,' Dhoni.
'When you bat at number five or six you usually get a 60 or an 80, but you can also get out playing big shots.
'Today, I had ample time to build my innings and I just exploited a good batting surface." said Dhoni
The third match of the series takes place in Delhi on Saturday.
