New Delhi: Aussie speed-star Brett Lee has been ruled out of the ongoing India-Oz ODI series due to an elbow injury he suffered during the first ODI against India. He missed the second one-day international with the same elbow problem which prevented him from completing his full 10-over spell in the first match at Vadodara.
Brett Lee will fly home in order to completely recover from the injury.
Confirming the news, Aussies physiotherapist Kevin Sims said: "Brett's elbow injury has not responded as well to treatment as we would have liked and therefore a decision has been made to send him home to consult with an elbow specialist."
"With an accurate diagnosis we can determine how best to manage the injury and give Brett the best chance of being available for selection at the beginning of the Australian summer."
A Cricket Australia statement said a replacement would be announced "in due course".
It is a blow for Australia, who will also be without James Hopes (hamstring) for Saturday's third ODI in Delhi.
