Mumbai: Sreesanth was on Tuesday handed a fresh opportunity to resurrect his Test career after being named in India's Test squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka which begins on November 16th.
Sreesanth, who last played for India in a Test match against South Africa at Kanpur in April 2008, has subsequently struggled with a side strain. He is currently leading Kerala in the Ranji Trophy season.
Recently, Sreesanth has been given a "final warning" by the BCCI to mend his on-field behaviour, failing which he would be suspended from domestic matches.
Apart from Sreesanth, Zaheer Khan also retuned to the team after months of absence due to pesky injuries.
The last time Zaheer Khan played an international match was during the T20 World Cup in England. Zaheer's performance was outstanding in the recently concluded domestic Ranji Trophy series where he took seven wickets for 152 against Punjab.
The selectors have also recalled Pragyan Ojha, the left-arm spinner, and the Tamil Nadu pair of M Vijay and S Badrinath as reserve batsmen.
The opening Test of the India-Lanka series will be played in Ahmedabad on November 16. The second and third Tests would be held at Kanpur (November 24-28) and Mumbai (December 2-6) respectively.
