Mumbai: Maharashtra Government has decided to felicitate Sachin Tendulkar for his achievements saying he has brought glory and pride to India and Maharashtra.
The cabinet, which adopted a resolution on Thursday congratulated Tendulkar for scoring 17,000 runs in ODIs and playing for 20 years.
“Sachin's exemplary game, has given immense pleasure to cricketers and Indians. Tendulkar"s success in cricket is because of his sincerity, efforts and national pride. His game has brought immense pride to Maharashtra and India." says the resolution.
Few days ago, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray reprimanded Sachin Tendulkar for saying, "Mumbai belongs to Indians. He asked Sachin to refrain from commenting on Mumbai and political issues.
In an interview, Tendulkar had said that Mumbai belonged to all Indians. He had further added that he was proud to be a Maharashtrian but he was an Indian first, which invited the wrath of the Sena chief.
Shiv Sena chief was severely condemned by all political parties across the country for attacking the icon of the cricketing world.
