Sena spits venom against Sachin again

Mumbai: Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana attacked batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar once again, saying he plays for the Indian cricket board, not Maharashtra.

In an article published in party mouthpiece Saamna, Sanjay Raut, Shivsena MP said, "Sachin may be a big cricketer, but he is not bigger than Maharashtra. Sachin has not sacrificed his life for the country like Lokmanya Tilak, Bhagat Singh and Rajguru.

The Sena compared Tendulkar with Sunil Gavaskar who it hailed as a "true Maharashtrian".

Comparing Tendulkar with Gavaskar , Raut said, "There has been no instance of Sachin extending a helping hand to other Marathi cricketers. Forget others, he did not even support Vinod Kambli."

"Tendulkar's 17,000 runs do not guarantee employment to 17,000 youths, he added. "Mumbai is not the outcome of Sachin's sixes and fours," he added.

Raut is the Shivsena MP who earlier justified the attacks on some media offices saying that it was spontaneous.

Few days ago, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray reprimanded Sachin Tendulkar for saying, "Mumbai belongs to Indians. He asked Sachin to refrain from commenting on Mumbai and political issues.
