Kolkata: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly may play for English country club Essex in next year's T20 competition.
Ganguly has already held talks with the club authorities and he is expected to play in Friends Provident T20 championship, to be held from June 1-August 14 next year.
If Ganguly signs the deal, this will be the first time that the former India captain will be recruited by an overseas club after his retirement from international cricket.
English club cricket is not new to Sourav Ganguly as he had played for Lancashire in 2000, Glamorgan in 2005 and Northamptonshire in 2006 in county cricket.
He had also played in England's domestic T20 meet, then called the Twenty20 Cup, for Glamorgan and Northamptonshire.
According to information, Ganguly could also take part in exhibition matches in Florida and Toronto in February.
Middlesex, after signing Adam Gilchrist, are also hoping to secure the services of Sachin Tendulkar for the Twenty20 Cup.
