Mumbai: Twin half-centuries from Tharanga Paravitna and Tillakaratne Dilshan helped Sri Lanka to post 117/1 at lunch on the opening day of the third cricket Test against Sri Lanka here today.
Harbhjan Singh gave India its first breakthrough when he dismissed ominous looking Tharanga Paranavitana. The lankan opener hit 53 from 81 deliveries, inclusive of seven boundaries.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, who started off cautiously, changed his gears to reach 51 from 63 deliveries, with seven boundaries and a six.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat against India in the third and final Test of the three-match series at the Brabourne stadium on Wednesday.
Both teams made one change each as Murali Vijay replaced Gautam Gambhir, who flew to Delhi for a family function, in the Indian line-up while Ajantha Mendis made way for Nuwan Kulasekara in the visitors' eleven.
