Dhoni puts India in driver's seat

Mumbai: Indian batsmen have done a marvellous job. Now, its up to their bowlers. They just need to to take 10 Sri Lankan wickets in two days for a 2-0 win over Sri Lanka in the three match Test series.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored a brilliant 100, his 3rd Test hundred, to put India in the driver's seat as the hosts took a healthy 333-run first innings lead on day three of the third test match. The Indian captain smashed 100 in 154 deliveries, which was studded with six sixes and three boundaries.

On day three of the third and final Test, India finished at 726-9, as India registered it's highest total in tests and stretching the lead to 333 in the process. Team India eclipsed their previous best of 705 for seven declared against Australia at Sydney in 2004.

In reply, Sri Lanka were 11 for no loss in their second innings at draw of stumps on the third day. Sri Lanka trail India by 322 runs.

Earlier, Sehwag fell seven runs short of his third triple hundred in Tests, becoming one of Muttiah Muralitharan's four wickets in the innings.

Sehwag, who resumed on his overnight score of 284 off 239 deliveries, hitting as many as 40 boundaries and seven sixes, added just nine runs on Friday.

Rahul Dravid (74), VVS Laxman (62) and Sachin Tendulkar (53) chipped in with useful contributions for the Indians who need to win this match to climb to the number one spot in the ICC Test rankings.

India leads the three match series 1-0 in after winning the second Test by an innings and 144 runs.
