Mumbai: Sri Lanka were 84 for one at lunch in their second innings on the fourth day of the third and final test against India on Saturday.
Resuming at 11 for no loss, Sri Lanka were dealt an early blow when Dilshan was dismissed leg before wicket for 16 in the sixth over of the day.
Tharanga Paranavitana looked solid on 42 from 97 deliveries and Kumar Sangakkara was unbeaten on 22 from 62 deliveries to rally Sri Lanka after that early wicket. The visitors reached 84 for one after 31 overs, needing another 249 runs to avoid the humiliation of an innings defeat.
India, on day three, recorded their highest Test total in history by declaring at a massive 726-9 declared. The visitors trail by 333 runs and are already trailing the three-Test series 1-0.
A win here at the Brabourne stadium will take the home side to the number one spot.
