Mumbai: Ecstatic at India's rise to the top of the Test rankings, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar said that he had been waiting for this moment since the start of his career.
"Fantastic feeling, I was waiting for it, I am delighted with the feeling. It is a dream come true," said Tendulkar.
The Mumbai batsman also credited the entire coaching team, including the now sacked duo of bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad and fielding coach Robin Singh, for the triumph.
"When Gary, Paddy, along with Robin and Venky Prasad got together 18 months back, we believed we could achieve the top slot. The whole team's goal was to get to the No. 1 position, all the players have worked hard to reach this position." he added.
He also said that the current side led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the best ever to have represented the country.
India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 24 runs on Sunday to win the series 2-0 and secure their spot at the top of the Test rankings.
