Perth: Australia has declared at 7-520 on the second day of the third Test at the WACA with Mitchell Johnson last man out for 35 and Nathan Hauritz finishing unbeaten on two.
Brad Haddin became the fifth player this innings to reach a half-century without going on to reach triple figures when he was dismissed for 88 off just 91 balls shortly after lunch.
Simon Katich (99), Shane Watson (89), Mike Hussey (82) and Marcus North (68) were also guilty of not going on with the job, bringing to 15 the number of times an Australian had posted a half-century this series without recording a ton.
Having re-commenced play at 5-458 in the second session in Perth, the game was brought to life when batsmen Brad Haddin and Johnson were involved in a heated exchange with spinner Sulieman Benn in the 118th over of Australia's innings.
An accidental mid-pitch collision between Johnson and Benn as Johnson headed to the non-striker's end prompted a nasty war of words between Haddin and Benn.
